A single application of K9 Advantix® II keeps working for a month. It is safe to re-apply the product more frequently but this is rarely required.

Dogs can swim as much as they like while treated with K9 Advantix® II. Please wait a minimum of 48 hours after product application before they get wet to ensure the product has dried and spread across the skin.

Bathing of pets is not required, however if you are bathing your pet, use an appropriate shampoo. A non-medicated shampoo made for dogs is fine. Baths can be given as often as once per month without affecting the performance of the product. If more than one bath is given, the product should be reapplied after the second bath.

Flea shampoo, medicated shampoos, human shampoo and dish detergents are not appropriate choices when managing fleas with K9 Advantix® II and may affect the performance of the product. Please wait 48 hours between product application and bathing.

Apply K9 Advantix® II after the dog’s coat has dried. We recommend waiting 48 hours after a bath before applying K9 Advantix® II to allow the natural oils to return to the dog's skin.

A gentle pet shampoo is compatible with K9 Advantix® II. Flea shampoo, medicated shampoos, human shampoo and dish detergents are not appropriate choices when managing fleas with K9 Advantix® II and may affect the performance of the product.

Yes. Fleas can be brought into the home by you or other pets without even realizing it. Immature flea stages remain dormant until conditions are appropriate for development and infest pets after hatching. That’s why it’s important to also treat indoor pets. Ask your veterinarian for specific treatment recommendations.

On a cat, apply the contents of the entire tube directly onto the skin at the base of the skull. For dogs, apply contents of the entire tube to one (small dogs) or several (large dogs) spots along the back from shoulder blades to halfway down the back to allow the product to spread across your pet’s skin. Your cat may experience a cool sensation at the application site and try to lick his skin, which is why is so important to apply Advantage® II at the base of the skull where your cat can’t reach. The product is bitter so salivation may occur if the pet is able to lick the product before it has dried. Click here to watch a video featuring the application process in cats.
